Well known Singaporean dancer, choreographer, founder of Dance Ensemble Singapore. In 1993, Mdm Yan established the Dance Ensemble and Arts School. She was awarded the National Young Artist Award in 1983, the Japan General Chamber of Commerce Singapore Foundation Medal in 1994, and the Singapore Public Service Medal in 2020. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong especially praised at the National Day Rally in 2014: "Mdm Yan has incorporated the styles of other ethnic groups into traditional Chinese dance. Such Singaporean Chinese dances are very popular when they performed abroad.
